“Absolutely amazing. I could not believe that I received £8,500 in compensation. I came to Michael McGee on a whim and he and the team dealt with my case. I did not think I would get anything and I did not think a solicitor would even take the case on. My case was unusual and I was not sure if there was any point in pursuing it. I kept 100% of my compensation as well. I am really grateful to Michael, he provided a great service. I did not have to do anything and only visited the office a couple of times.”

Is My Employer Liable For My Work Accident?

This is the case even if you are working for them but are not on their premises but elsewhere, such as at a client’s home or moving between jobs.
Examples of instances where an employer has been negligent and required to pay damages to an injured employee include:
- Failure to provide a safe working environment
- Not following health and safety laws
- Providing equipment or machinery that is not in safe working order
- Failure to properly maintain equipment or machinery
- Not providing regular health and safety training
- Not carrying out adequate risk assessments
What Should I Do If I Have Been Injured At Work?
If you have been injured at work, whether or not it was at your employer’s place of business, you should report the accident to your employer and ensure that it is written into the accident book.
You should also make your own notes about what happened while the incident is fresh in your mind. If possible, take photos of the scene and any machinery, equipment or hazard that was involved. You should also take photos of your injuries.
Make sure that you go to the hospital so that your injuries can be assessed and medical records created showing what has happened. You should also keep details of what you are told by the doctors you see and ensure that you attend all recommended medical appointments. You should keep receipts for expenses, such as prescription costs and parking fees, as these will form part of your claim.
If you have not been able to make any notes or take photos, don’t worry, as this can be dealt with afterwards if necessary.
We can help you to set out what happened and also speak to any witnesses who might be able to add to the picture and support your case.
Bringing A Claim For A Work Accident
Once you have spoken to us, we can contact your employer and advise them that you will be bringing a claim for work accident compensation. They will generally pass this to their insurer and we would then deal directly with the insurer and their solicitor.
They might admit liability at an early stage, which means that we can then work to agree on the amount of compensation which will be paid to you.
We will ask our medical experts to examine you and prepare a report giving details of your injuries, the effect they have had and your prognosis.
You are entitled to be compensated for your injuries as well as for any financial losses, such as loss of earnings and the cost of any equipment or therapy you may need. We will put together a list of all of the items for which we are seeking compensation and enter into negotiations with the other side.
Will I Need To Go To Court For A Work Accident Claim?
We are very often able to settle work accident claims by negotiation without the need to go to court. If the other side does not admit liability or the amount they offer by way of damages is not sufficient, then we will prepare your case for court.
We have strong experience in preparing claims for court and you can be sure that we will give you the best possible representation.
Throughout your time with us, we will make sure that we are available to speak to you as needed and that we keep you updated as to progress. We are also always happy to hear from you and answer your questions.
“If there was a rating system for Solicitors/Law Firms you would be 10/10! Thanks again to Michael McGee for the successful outcome of my Personal Injury Claim. I never thought that it would have realised the amount that you secured on completion of the case. All the way you remained contactable and reassured me throughout, I am so grateful for this as being injured can be stressful enough without added anxiety. Even though I was injured in an industrial accident and still have the aches and pains, the compensation you won for me helps to make my family more comfortable.”
